Who doesn’t love spring, it is always exciting mixed with a bit of urgency to get busy. I am in the process of preparing my spring line up for the final time deciding on what berries to plant and what types of greens and what medicinal herbs will be added for our spring garden. ( The things that excite me ) Well for starts my son and his girlfriend just came back from Hawaii and brought us back some really nice seeds and cuttings. Starting with Hawaiian chili pepper seeds, Liliuokalani-Passion Fruit seeds and one of my favorite Hawaiian Papaya seeds. I am going to plant them in pots for the next six weeks indoors, in the greenhouse tent and take them out daily for about a hour so when I transplant them outdoors into there pots, I won’t have to harden them off. My plans for them will all be apart of my backyard patio garden. as for the flowers, I am going to plant the Hawaiian Plumeria in a planter on my front patio as a accent.( fancy huh? I know ) My to do list is still far from being complete there are some many ideas I would like to implement but we shall see how my spring line up goes first. As far as my garden is concerned I will definitely add more stinging nettle, it did well in the garden last spring but didn’t make it thru the frost when all else fails try again. I am also planting Oca tubers and Yacons it is my hope the do well, fingers crossed. This year we are planting more Asian greens, they are more hardy and resistant to beetles and worms. My husband and I have already been seeding the garden beds with wildflowers, Echinacea purple cone flowers, Comos, and Black Eye Susan’s. We love the pollinators and beneficial insects, we just introduced our first casing of praying mantis in the beds as well as ladybugs. This spring time I am trying to be a little more proactive and release our beneficial bugs in the beds while there are still plenty of flowers, weeds, and vegetation so the eggs can hatch and we will have a second generation already in place. Spring and summer creates a explosion of abundance including pests so I feel I really want to get ahead of the game by putting the workers in place. Our worm farm is in full force to help make worm castings. If your going to do it, right now is the time to get prepared a little everyday. The best part about springtime is daylight saving time in my opinion, and I'm over the moon about it, it gives me a bit of a edge to get things done. I am celebrating , it is the season for rebirth and bringing forth new life. I think the world is looking for this refreshing, in our mind body and spirit and soul. Whatever that is on your list for spring, always remember to laugh, love and pray. We got this; “We get another chance to smell the flowers.” Herbally Yours, L.B

So I really want to tame my sweet tooth, lately I have been all about the baking such as vegan delights that are guilt free, full of vegetables and fruits and nothing but the best grains. I truly struggle between the dark and light when it comes to certain foods. What I have realized is that, if I can tame the crave before it starts then my vampire tendencies are subdued and voile I return to a normal human for the most part. I am definitely putting my priorities in order to make nutritious breakfast smoothies that include lots of good fatty nuts for my protein source and of course add my delicious muffins for a healthy carbohydrate, which makes me feel full and satisfied. As a matter of fact I actually feel as though I am eating something that I shouldn’t have, which makes it all the better if you know what I mean (lol). It has been very enjoyable for me and my husband to take our morning walk out in our garden to collect kale, broccoli leaves, mustard's and chard and eat them raw as we are picking them, here’s the bonus adding to our morning smoothie. I am getting super excited that spring is around the corner and just 29 days away. The count down has started with our plans to resurrect our garden which I'm over the moon about this is my favorite time of year, the trees budding, birds chirping and everything growing lol. Can you say fantasy? I think it’s time to go sweeten the deal with a few healthy treats off I go marching to see my nana babies to bring them all the muffins they can eat. For some reason I feel like Mister Rogers cue up It’s A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood🥰 - Herbally Yours, L.B

I truly have been on a journey I must say, hoorray the evil hitchhiker has officially been given the boot! According to my retest I was negative as of Monday January 25th and could not be more thrilled to say that but more importantly feel that, as we have lost so many to Covid. Yes! I have been to the moon and back, now once again I get to hug my husband and my grandchildren. Yes! I still continue to take every precaution like I was doing prior to the evasion and I am even doubling up on my mask 😷. It just feels really good to be back and to know that it was worth it to practice what I preach. To live over 30 years practicing herbalism and having to heal your self when the whole world is in the same condition is traumatic to say the least. My faith has grown even stronger and I will continue to speak life over myself and my family, really anyone I meet. I will continue to use my herbal formulas on rotation for an extra boost to my whole body regardless of the negative test I will stay diligent to the things that got me through. Olive Leaf, Mullein, Elderberry and HWLD - Halness formula all antiviral , antibacterial and inflammatory for protection. (I provided a link below for HWLD GRND , the other items you can purchase at most supermarkets.) Reminding myself to get my rest and most importantly stay hydrated, I believe that along with my other list of herbs it helped save me from a dreaded hospital visit or worse. As I said in this week on our YouTube Vlog, I don’t know what I would have done without my faith and prayers from my inner circle, I am and will always be grateful for my family connections and my herbal apothecary which is always ready to go. I am a prepper I know lol, and I will always be a prepper . In these times it reminds me that faith is a action, that requires us to do our part as well. Stay Safe and Be Well! -LB. The Herbalist.

The days are cold and grey and I feel all fuzzy inside. I mean this weather just makes you want to curl ul under a blanket and watch the notebook BUT it also brings along the sniffles. Here is the recipe for my onion tea not only is it great for building the immune system it also tastes good too. I mean like who doesnt like being healthy and having a party in their mouth at the same time. I would say thats a win, win! Luckily I grow most of the ingredients in my garden so its a quick trip outside. However all the ingredients are super easy to find in the grocery store as well. Asia's Cold Fighter Immuni-Tea A cold-busting homemade tea that’s packed with vitamin C and will boost your immune system. Prep Time 10 mins Cook Time 15 mins but the longer the better Total Time 25 mins Ingredients 2 key lime 1 red apple 1 red onion 7-10 cups water 1 cinnamon stick 1 bay leaf 3-4 sprigs of lemon thyme 2 inches of turmeric (chopped) 4 garlic cloves peeled and bruised 1 stalk of lemongrass 3 inches of ginger (chopped) 1 teaspoon honey I use Manuka you can replace with plant-based sweetener of your choice If your feeling fancy you can add cloves or star anise ( make sure your purchase star anise from a reputable grocer ) Instructions Add water to a large pot over low heat. Cut the limes, red apple (remove seeds from apples ) and onion into four equal parts. (leave skin on the onion) Wash the lemongrass and peel its outermost skin. Squeeze lime juice into the water before adding all the ingredients to the pot. Set the heat to medium-low and let it boil slowly for 10-15 minutes. Let simmer for another 15-20 minutes (the longer, the better) I slow simmer until the apples are brown and sink to the bottom. Strain and sweeten Voila! Your rolling, rolling on a river ! Oh Monday! My least favorite day as Steven always says "stop saying that , its a mindset Monday is no different then any other day" (insert eye roll here) with that being said I started my "real fitness journey this morning at 6:30 a.m with no coffee, no pep talk nothing just sheer delusion, hope and a prayer. When I tell you during my workout there was a moment when my soul came out my body did the Harlem shake and hopped back in. Whew! I'm tired but energized this feeling comes back to me before kids, before when it was just me to worry about things were a tad bit easier when It was just me, myself and I . But in this same moment I take a look at the other side my littles are watching me. Journey started doing jumping jacks saying go mom working out beside me, Jax is in between doing some type of downward dog motion and roll with the I'm just happy to be here face so that's encouraging. What I'm saying is yes you will be tired and yes it will hurt damn it but the reward is much greater. Off to feed my house before they turn into gremlins then it will really be f@$k Monday. Well that’s it, everything I was experiencing was true to what I expected I tested positive for covid... I showed symptoms on January 5, tested on January 8th and got back positive results on Tuesday January 12th, I was happy about one thing that I had experienced a fever for only one day. The onset of coughing and feeling of low energy set in on me. Then on Monday I loss my sense of smell, the most frightening feeling was not having the ability to be able to breathe at night. I was truly into my most deepest herbal pockets, more than I had ever been in a very long time. I was eating fresh greens from my garden, making juices daily, sitting in the fresh air and sunlight to get a little extra vitamin D it couldn’t hurt I thought but to my surprise, please believe every bit of the hype! Covid is a ratchet monster that will seek every opportunity to quickly take your faith and mental health along with your physical health on a roller coaster ride more than you couldn’t possibly prepare for. I have had some good days and some terrible nights, this is where the demon has tried to challenge me when I am the most tired and alone. Please surround yourself with good positive people , your family, books, music and shows that lift you up in spirit. Covid reminds me of when satan trying to get into your head and help you into thinking of negative outcomes while feeling the worst. I was tempted not to reach out, and not tell my family how I was truly feeling , every night I had been wrestling with the evil of not being able to breathe. I do check my oxygen levels nightly and they are still good, but anxiety has tried to hang out with me every night. So I have decided to evict anxiety today, and swap in family. I am thankful for my beautiful family, this was the best medicine I have received since acquiring this evil hitch hiker. Let it be said that your psychological state of mind has a lot to do with your healing process also. I would advise anyone that has picked up this unwanted evil hitch hiker, to consult with your love ones isolation is what it feeds off and fear then can take its gripe on you. Seek a doctor that can at least give you a opportunity to evaluate your protocol and make sure you are on track, and most of all know you are not alone. This is my new road less traveled but I plan on keeping it free from the clutter of negativity and choosing to spend more time on the road of love and laughter. A merry heart does a body good, and family rules. My Covid relief soup Recipe Mushroom broth soup 4 cartons of mushroom broth 1 fresh large red onion 2 whole fresh garlic bulbs A handful of Fresh lemon thyme And handful of fresh rosemary 2 lemon grass stalks 1 Turmeric 1 Ginger 1 handful fresh oregano Simmer for 30 minutes strain off Then add your favorite pasta I use chick pea pasta by Bam add protein of choice, mine was raw shrimp or tofu slurp and sip away Bon appétit Happy Living - Herbally L.B
